Data-driven Residential Energy Carrier-agnostic Demand Response Tools and Multi-value Services
For the energy transition to succeed, demand response needs to work in everyday life – but smart technology alone is not enough. In the DEDALUS project, OurPower is developing solutions that genuinely inspire people and offer them tangible added value. The OurPower Community App makes local electricity production and consumption visible, encouraging community-optimal behaviour through simple, practical tips. A dedicated Community Cockpit gives energy community managers all the tools they need to run operations smoothly. Through pre-aggregation on the OurPower marketplace, the automatic management of flexibilities becomes possible – an important step towards an intelligent energy system. At the pilot site GreenPoint, these methods and tools are being tested in practice, with the goal of creating financial benefits for users and a future-ready electricity grid.

Challenge
Demand response - that is, adjusting electricity consumption to match supply - does not yet work in practice because users do not adopt new technologies in their daily lives. For this to succeed, we need more than just smart devices—we need solutions that are simple, that inspire people, and that offer them real value in their daily lives.
Solutions
The OurPower Community App visualizes local electricity production and consumption. Simple tips encourage behavior that benefits the community.
The Energy Community Cockpit provides managers with all the tools they need to optimally organize an energy community.
The Pre-aggregation on the OurPower marketplace will enable automatic management of flexibility in the future.

Task Leader
AUSTRIAN PILOT - Management and Coordination
OurPower leads the Austrian pilot as Task Leader and coordinates the collaboration among all local stakeholders—from recruiting pilot households and organizing workshops to collecting data during live operation.

Technology Development and Replication
Peer-to-Peer Marketplace, Community App, and Scaling
In DEDALUS, OurPower is further developing the marketplace to include new features for energy communities and is integrating flexibility management at the pilot site.
The community app is being further developed in DEDALUS in collaboration with pilot participants and expanded to include new functionalities.
The developed technologies and services are being replicated in collaboration with the other pilot sites.
OurPower is compiling relevant findings from the project regarding regulation and legislation for policymakers.
Green Point, Wiener Neustadt
A multi-unit building complex that includes:
- 84 apartments and 20 offices with smart meters
- 226 kWp PV on rooftops and balconies
- 216 kWh Battery-Storage;
- 10 EV charging stations
Methods and Tools
Community App
Members of the Energy Community can use the Community App to access important information about their electricity usage, as well as the community’s overall electricity generation and consumption. In addition, the “Nudging Tips” help them learn how to best use electricity when it is currently available within the community.
EC-Community Cockpit
This solution was developed for the managers of energy communities. With this tool, they can keep track of all key data related to their energy community, organize their association, manage invoices, and handle payment processing reliably.
Peer-2-Peer Market Place
Through the OurPower marketplace, active customers can buy and sell electricity and enjoy financial benefits in the process.
An integrated pre-aggregation platform for the Market Place was developed in DEDALUS to optimize the energy community through flexibility management.
